Taylor Swift Teams Up With Congress for Concert Fundraisers

Once again, Taylor Swift is using her fame as a platform to help others. Seven members of Congress will be attending the country cutie’s sold-out August 2 and August 3 shows at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. for fundraising purposes … And we’re sure they’ll be partaking in some singing and dancing as well.
Fans of Taylor Swift and avid followers of government affairs will have the chance to bid on tickets to the sold-out show, according to a report from Political Party Time. The highest bid will have the chance to party it up and rock out to hits like ‘Mean’ and ‘You Belong With Me’ alongside members of Congress. Oh yeah, and maybe the winner can get some insider info on the debt crisis that is plaguing our nation right now.
On August 2, six members of the US Congress will be present to rock out and raise money at Swift’s concert. Six members of Congress will be attending the August 2 performance. Republican senator John Thune of South Dakota will be there along with Republican representatives Jo Bonner, of Alabama, Michael Grimm of New York, Tom Price of Georgia, and Kay Granger of Texas. Democratic rep. Heath Shuler of North Carolina will also be joining the lineup of lawmakers at the show on August 2, and Rep. Paul Broun of Georgia will be the lone Congressman at the August 3 show.
Tickets to the show may be sold out, but some are still available through ticketing outlets like StubHub!. If you want to park your booty next to a Congress member on August 2 or 3, you’ll have to be willing to fork over as much as $1,000. Make that $3,500 if you want to sit next to Senator John Thune!
